J.C.F. Strategic Vision
STRATEGIC VISION
The vision of the Jamaica Constabulary is to become a high quality professional service that is valued and trusted by all the citizens of Jamaica.
VALUE STATEMENT
The Jamaica Constabulary is committed to the quality of its service delivery and the satisfaction of its internal and external customers.
J.C.F. Core Values
The Jamaica Constabulary and its Auxiliaries have the mandate to provide police services to the people of Jamaica. We recognize that we deliver these services within the context of a dynamic environment where needs and expectations change and this require the police to be more responsive and accountable to the citizens. Part of our response is to work to transform the organization into a professional service that is respected and trusted by the people of Jamaica.
Our transformative efforts focus sharply on continuing the culture shift mandate by emphasizing and championing our ethical standards and principles. Community Based Policing (CBP) is at the heart of the culture shift mandate, and reinforces the need for our members to recognize the centrality of the citizens of Jamaica to police effectiveness. This means each member has to develop an understanding and acceptance of the important and critical difference between “policing the community” and “policing with the community”.
Within the framework of the CBP philosophy we are committed to enhancing public safety and security by working in partnership with our citizens to solve policing problems and to improve the delivery of policing services. Issues of trust, respect, cooperation and collaboration are important elements for both internal and external environments of the police organization.
As we strive to serve and protect our communities, and do our best to reduce the fear of crime and the incidence of crime and violence by bringing offenders to justice, each member is therefore encouraged to renew his/her commitment to the principles, values, standards and system of beliefs by which we should work and live.
Meeting the reasonable expectations of our citizens and other stakeholders should be the goal of each member. Policing is a noble and honorable profession and requires that each of us who answered the call to serve do so with honesty, integrity and a commitment to live up to our Oath of office.
